Level Crossing Gates win prestigious award
The new Level Crossing Gates at Bronwydd Arms have received national recognition- by coming first in the National Railway Heritage Awards-Volunteer's section.
The new gates were erected in 2010 and replaced the old 4 gate design with a more traditional 2 gate system as per the original Bronwydd Arms level crossing. Thanks to a grant from Menter Bro Dinefwr the new gates were manufactured with reference to historical drawings and original ironwork recovered and refurbished to recreate an original feature of both the railway and the village. We are proud to say that the crossing is the only set of wooden gates in operation on a level crossing in the whole of South Wales.
Said Rob James, the General Manager "We are very proud to receive national recognition of this project and our thanks must go to all involved who achieved the very high standard of workmanship which was recognised and appreciated by the Judges."
